Our April 2015 meet-up was hosted by Eventbrite and covered the conference room manager, MEAT as well as scaling IT infrastructures from a decentralized perspective. We’d like to extend special thanks to Eventbrite for being an awesome host, Miguel Pino of Eventbrite for his coordination assistance and to our presenters,
Justin Wilson and Jason Kuo!
Here are some highlights:
Justin Wilson of Slack kicked off the event with a presentation and demo, about MEAT. An open source solution from Atlassian, MEAT means Meeting Evaluation Administration Technology. It connects to your company’s calendar provider (Google Apps) and shows meeting information on your phone and on displays around your office. Using MEAT could help alleviate meeting rooms traffic jams and provide your company with the meeting room booking transparency they never knew they needed. Thanks to our remote participants participating in our live stream, there was a Docker container created before Justin’s presentation was even over.
Next up was Jason Kuo of Eventbrite, who talked about Scaling Eventbrite’s Mac Management & Authentication Infrastructure. Jason challenged us to evaluate our IT infrastructures from the perspective of being a like a spider or a starfish. (If you are a fan of Patrick Star, this presentation is for you.)
